A Special Goodbye & A Celebration of Life & Marriage

Today was a day of goodbyes & a day of celebration!

Hubby & me traveled about an hour away today to the beautiful New River Valley area to say goodbye to a special great aunt who passed away Sunday at 93 years old. Mable was the last of 10 children & a woman full of grace & faith. She inspired all who knew her because of her gentle nature & her love for everyone. We said goodbye but we also celebrated her life! Mable you will forever be in our hearts!

After leaving the funeral hubby & me went to Red Robin for lunch & to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary which was yesterday (9th)! We love Red Robin's gourmet burgers & fries!
We knew we wanted to end the day antiquing in the New River Valley as they have some really nice antique malls. I was also hoping to find something special for remembrance of this special day of celebrations!

After seeing so many things I would love to have purchased for my website I decided to just look for something for me. At the third & last antique mall there it was hanging upstairs all the way in the back in the corner. In fact it was hanging up so high I had to get someone from the antique mall to help me get it down for a closer look & of course to see the price tag.

Well it was all I could do to contain myself when I flipped the price tag over on this old vintage brides basket! Anyone who knows me knows I just adore vintage flower baskets or brides baskets especially with the old barbola. Ten dollars! Yes ten dollars!

I was so proud of myself because alot of times I forget to look up at things hanging from the ceiling at the antique malls. I could have easily missed this one since I was getting tired, it was hot in the upstairs & I knew we needed to get going on down the road home. Still I just felt I was going to find something special. Its as though Mable was helping to guide me to find my special treasure that would be my memory of this special day to celebrate her life. I say that because I actually wasn't going to stop at this last place but something kept telling me I needed to stop at this one last place!

Hubby waited in the truck at this last place to rest his tired feet. When I came out with my treasured basket he knew by the look on my face I was glad I stopped. I was so excited when I told him the price letting out a loud scream of delight. I looked at his face & he said Vicki its just a basket! Just a basket I ask? LOL !!! No this is not just any basket but a special basket with a history of which I know not but now my basket is a token of remembrance of this special day!
